Permission Codes Information for Departments
What will permission codes override?
Permission numbers can override multiple requirements. Requirements include:
- Time Conflict: Allows a student to enroll in a class that has a time conflict with another enrolled class.
- Requisite Not Met: Allows a student who does not meet the requisites to register.
- Consent Required: Allows a student to enroll in a class that requires permission.
- Career Restriction: Allows a student to register for a class outside of the student's career (ex., an undergraduate student registering in a graduate-level class).
Some permission numbers can also override:
- Closed Class: Allows a student to over enroll in a full class, or take a reserve capacity seat.
Permission numbers that over-ride closed class are not a default and will need to
be specifically requested.
- The initial batch of permission codes generated by the Registrar's 福利精品在线观看 will no
longer override the class capacity/closed class. if you need a permission code that
will allow a student to override capacity or bypass the waitlist you:
- Contact your Department Scheduler to enter a request in the CLSS system on a particular section with the comment code of CAPOVERRIDE:X, with X indicating the number of codes you will need.
- Email scheduling@utah.edu if you do not have edit rights in CLSS. Indicate the term, class, and number of CAPOVERRIDE codes you will need.

Can a student use a permission code and be on the waitlist?
Yes, if a student uses a permission code that does not override Closed Class, they can use the permission number while also using the waitlist for a class.
How do I view permission codes?
- Log into and navigate to Campus Solutions (HE)
- Click the NavBar icon in the top right-hand corner
- Click the Menu button from the NavBar
- Click Records and Enrollment
- Click Term Processing
- Click on Class Permissions
- Click on Class Permissions again
- On the Find an Existing Value page, enter the criteria to search for the class (Term, Subject Area, Catalog Number)
- Click Search. From the Class Section Data, locate the class section for which you would like to view permission numbers
- To see what a permission number will over-ride, click on the Permission tab in the Class Permission Data section. (If the permission code will not over-ride Closed Class, the box will be unchecked)
- To download a list of the permission numbers to Microsoft Excel, click the download speadsheet icon and choose Download Class Permission Data Table to Excel
